Growing up, I assumed dark skin naturally shielded me from the sun’s harsh rays. Later, I learned that while melanin offers some protection, it doesn’t guard against all the damage UV exposure can cause.
When I began incorporating SPF into my skincare routine, it was a challenging journey. I was already navigating cystic acne and eczema flare-ups, and finding a mineral-based sunscreen that worked with my skin tone, without the white cast. It felt nearly impossible.
Over time, what started as a personal struggle transformed into a passion: creating a product that protects melanin-rich skin using clean, effective ingredients.
The result of lost luggage during travels in Portugal sparked my inspiration. Suddenly, I was without any of my usual skincare products. For two weeks, I turned to what was naturally available: the region’s volcanic water. Day after day, I washed my face with it, and by the end of the trip, my skin had a radiant glow unlike anything I’d experienced.
After long thought, mineral-rich volcanic water was to be the base of my inspiration. Sunscreen with volcanic water at the core to enhance the skin barrier, restore natural pH balance, and deliver nourishment straight from the earth.
